Tulsa Series Book Reviews

I've been blessed to have a number of great reviews for these four titles. Here are just a few!
Review:
Bigotry, hatred, race, lynching, just to name a few, are keen points in Tulsa Tempest. Tessa is a strong heroine as she tries to understand the actions of people while trying to keep her feelings for Gaven. I like the way Tessa stands her ground on her beliefs. Ms. Lutz does an excellent job in revealing the true emotions of the characters and even those that are downright nasty in the storyline. I found the whole ambience of the story most believable in every way. Indeed a read was engaging for this reader.

Review:
Norma Jean Lutz wrote a gripping tale of love and racial tension in Tulsa Tempest . Tulsa Tempest is the first book in her four part Tulsa series, which takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921. It's a very gripping story about prejudice and hate in the town of Tulsa and one woman's fight to break out of the hate that is destined to consume her.
Norma Jean Lutz has a great understanding of the racial tension of that time period, and through this story she tries to bring to life the injustice that the blacks lived with each day. A definite page-turner in every sense! It's a great historical read that is entwined with a sweet romance.
Norma Jean Lutz sets the stage for the other three books in the series, and if they are anything like Tulsa Tempest , you can be sure that you're in for one terrific read. Without a doubt, a recommended book!

Review:
The second book in Norma Jean Lutz's Tulsa series is Tulsa Turning. Again, another fantastic story set in Tulsa, Oklahoma during the racial riots of 1921. This story picks up where the first book, Tulsa Turning, ended. This time we read the story of Tessa's cousin, Erik Torsten, and Clarette Fortier, a newspaper reporter from New York City. I very much enjoyed this second installment of Lutz's series.
Clarette is another strong heroine. Lutz has a gift for creating likable and very competent heroines. Clarette is a newspaper reporter from New York City, destined to make a name for herself in a business occupied mainly by men. She decides to travel to Tulsa and get the inside scoop on the race riots. There she meets Erik, and also discovers the evil and danger that is looming over this city. Not only may she lose her job, but also her very life.
Tulsa Turning is another riveting story told in a time when the lines between black and whites were clearly drawn. It's also told in a time where women weren't easily accepted by men in the work place. Two sensitive topics, woven intricately together to form an incredibly wonderful read. Another recommended book!

Review:
Ms. Lutz again shows her empathy towards the 1920s era of civil unrest. She tells the story in a way which makes me feel as if I am actually there. It is incredible how involved I got in the story. The author also examined the ability of some people who try, and succeed, in running a town and are capable of interfering without ethics. The story shows a myriad of circumstances where the Pattons controlled Tessa's life through hatred and vindictiveness. This desire to punish Tessa is addressed and clarified though it is not ever accepted.
This book is probably better than the others; I say "probably" because I get so involved with each one that I cannot actually determine the best. I do know that, so far, this is one of the best series I have ever read! Kudos to Ms. Lutz!

Review:
Return to Tulsa is about how a devoted couple progress in their married and professional life and move from Bartlesville to New York and then, finally, to Tulsa. Ms. Lutz has consistently shown this 1920s couple extremely involved with each other. Their love and participation in life is shared completely. The author developed the challenge of keeping a loving relationship solid while struggling to keep up the fast pace of life in New York.
She illustrated how, even within a great relationship, a couple can fall short of perfection. She revealed, however, that determination and lots of hard work can save that same relationship. This is a great book for this series. I would hope there would be others. This series, as well as this book, is phenomenal. I, personally, am a Christian. However, this series will attract a myriad of readers. There is enough Gospel presented to aid any who seek that knowledge; however, it is not so evident as to turn someone away from the stories offered. The author is amazing in her grasp of the subject matter and her flow of the series is extraordinary!
